Sassa will release payments of grants in April by the following date:
- Older person’s allowance: Tuesday 1 April
- Disability allowance: Wednesday 2 April
- Children’s grants allowance: Thursday 3 April
- SASSA R350 social grant: Paid no earlier than Friday 4 April
SASSA May Grant Payments 2025

How SASSA Grant Payments Made In 2025-2026
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) typically makes grant payments through one of several methods:
- Through Direct Deposit into Bank Account:
This is the most common method of receiving SASSA grant payments. Once your application for a grant has been approved, the funds will be directly deposited into your bank account every month. SASSA typically provides a schedule indicating when different grants will be paid into bank accounts.
- Through SASSA Payment Card:
Beneficiaries without a bank account can choose to receive their payments through a SASSA payment card. This card operates similarly to a debit card and is issued by the South African Post Office (SAPO). The funds are automatically loaded onto the card each month, and the beneficiaries can use the card to withdraw cash at ATMs or make purchases at stores.
- By Cash Payments at Designated Pay Points:
In some cases, especially in rural areas where banking services are less accessible, SASSA sets up designated pay points where beneficiaries can collect their grant payments in cash.
