The Bishop State Community College is an open-admission, state-supported urban community college in Mobile, Alabama. The College is divided into four city campuses that serve the people of Mobile and Washington counties in southwest Alabama.

Bishop State Community College Application for Admission Requirements 2025-2026
Upon completing an application for admission to Bishop State Community College, a student is required to submit one of the following:
- Alabama driver’s license or instruction permit that hasn’t expired
- Alabama identity card that hasn’t expired
- Passport from the United States that hasn’t expired
- Permanent Resident Card from the United States that hasn’t expired
- Pre-1997 Resident Alien Card
- Unexpired driver’s license or instruction permit from another state or possession, dated 2000 or later, that shows the lawful presence
- Prior to 1978, a U.S. Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-151) was required.
- I-797 Form with an expiration date BIA or tribal identification card with photo
- A state-issued voter identity card that certifies legal status.
Note: Copies must be delivered to the College in person, through email in PDF format, or sent to the College. The use of faxed copies is not permitted.

Provide a copy of the student’s valid driver’s license, learner’s permit, state-issued identity, or other acceptable identification. ** By emailing a copy of your ID to driverslicense@bishop.edu, you can submit it. The Office of Admissions and Records prefers scanned pdf copies but would accept an image file. The image file should be clear and of a reasonable size. It’s ideal to photograph on a dark, level surface.
- Transcripts from high school or a GED must be submitted.
- Transcripts from any regionally approved college or institution must be submitted

- Parchment, Credential Solutions, the National Student Clearinghouse, GED.com, Scribbles, and Needmytranscript.com all accept electronic transcripts. If an email is required, please send it to transcripts@bishop.edu.
Note: Your application will be completed in 3 to 5 business days. During high periods, such as registration, processing times may be longer. Please contact the Office of Admission and Records with any questions by emailing admiss@bishop.edu or calling (251) 405-7005.
Official copies of the following transcripts must also be submitted by students:
Transcripts from high school or the GED
Official copies of transcripts from all regionally recognized universities attended: A student must present official copies of transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions that they have attended.
A student who has received a bachelor’s degree will not be required to provide an official high school/GED transcript. A student with a bachelor’s degree will simply need to submit the transcript from the institution where the degree was granted*.
Additional documentation may be required if the College deems it appropriate.
*Students who are designated as degree-seeking may be required to submit all college transcripts in order to complete their program’s requirements. Students who need prerequisite credit for a course at Bishop State may be asked to produce a transcript from the institution where they received the prerequisite credit.
Important! Admissions applications and other material may be submitted at any school; however, if you are submitting your documents in person, we recommend that you do so at the location that offers your program.
