Huntingdon College Application For Admission 2023-2024

The Alabama State Legislature and Governor John A. Winston chartered Huntingdon College as “Tuskegee Female College” on February 2, 1854. Andrew Adgate Lipscomb was the first president. Dr Lipscomb established the college as a teaching institution rather than a research one.

The name of the college was changed to “Alabama Conference Female College” in 1872 when it was taken over by the Methodist Episcopal Church. College officials decided they needed to relocate the institution to a more populous city as the college and the South fought to rebuild following the Civil War, and they chose Montgomery, Alabama’s capital.
