Is U of Manitoba hard to get into?

At university Of Manitoba, the acceptance rate for undergraduate programs is between 50 and 52%. Applicants who do not meet this essential may be considered for admission if they have achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (C) on all courses acceptable for credit in the faculty or school to which application is made. UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA FACULTY SCHOOL, DEGREE COURSES AND PROGRAM-SPECIFIC MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENT(SELECTED)

  1. School of Art has Fine Art(Bachelor of fine arts) and a minimum average of 70% over the three 40S credits and One English 40S credit with a minimum grade of 60%.
  2. Faculty of Agricultural and food science  has Agribusiness(Bachelor of Science), Agriculture(Bachelor of Science – Agronomy, Animal systems or plant Biotechnology major available) which has a minimum average of 70% over the following, with no less than 60% in each course (English 40S, applied mathematics 40S or pre-calculus Mathematics and two academic 40S subjects.
  3. School of Dental Hygiene has Dental Hygiene, Diploma in Dental Hygiene has a minimum average of 85% over the following, with no less than 60% in each course (English 40S, Applied Mathematics 40S or Pre-Calcus Mathematics, Biology 40S or Chemistry 40S and an Academic 40S course.

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA MOST COMMON TYPES OF APPLICANTS

The University Of Manitoba has two common types of Applicants, thus the Advanced entry and Direct entry

  1. Advanced entry applicants

Students can apply to an advanced entry program if they have completed more than 24 credit hours of post-secondary level study and have completed the necessary university prerequisites. This applies to transfer students and students pursuing a second degree. Admission requirements for advanced entry applicants vary depending on your selected program

  1. Direct Entry Students

Ongoing high school students or students who have already graduated from high school but who have completed fewer than 24 credit hours of post-secondary level study. Student Studying in Canada must be a graduate of a Manitoba high school – this means that, you have five full credits at the Grade 12 level in courses designated S, G, U or C.  Students must meet the direct entry admission requirements of your program of study (or equivalent).

A. Homeschool and Non – Funded Independent School Applicants

Students who reside in Manitoba and are either homeschooled or attend a Non – Funded Independent School recognized by Manitoba Education are entitled to apply to University 1 or the Faculty of Music.  Entitled Students for admission applicants must provide a Grade 12 Notification Forms stamped by the province and January and June Grade 12 Homeschool Progress Reports stamped by the province

Non-Funded Independent School Students are to provide High School Transcript

B. . Mature Applicant Category

Students must be 21 years of age or older by September 30 for classes starting in September, January 31 for classes starting in January, May 1 for classes starting in May, and July 1 for classes starting in July. Must not meet the academic requirements of the applicable program . Applicants must have limited experience at college or university (fewer than 24 credit hours). Students must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident

 

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINES

Students will not be welcome until the application is submitted and the non – refundable application fee has been paid by the posted deadline. All resemblance, including decision release information will be sent through email and posted to applicant application portal. Applicants should ensure their email account remains current and will accept emails from the University of Manitoba. Students are advised to check their email and application portal regularly and specifically around the deadlines. Application fee for Canadian/Permanent Residents and Foreign Student are $100.00 and $120.00 respectively.

 

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA TUITION FEES

Tuition fees in University of Manitoba may vary based on applicant program of choice. If you are enrolled in a program other than University.  Annual fees shown for the health and dental plan, sport and recreation fee, and U-Pass are standard for all undergraduate applicants

University 1 Fess for domestic Applicant and Foreign Students is $5,400 and $18,700 respectively. Textbooks and supplies for local and International Student is $1,500.  Health and dental fee for Resident Student and Foreign Students is $380 and $1,410 respectively. Sports and recreation fee for both Domestic and International applicants is $195.  U-Pass Fee for both Local and Foreign Students is $215.

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINE FOR DOCUMENTATION FOR APPLICANTS

 

February , 2023, Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Jazz Studies audition dates.  March , 2023  is the Deadline to submit portfolio for applicants to the School of Art. In May, 2023 is last date for receipt of high school grades ( excluding University 1 ) . Final grades are required for any completed courses, and midterm grades for any courses in progress which wi ll be completed by June, 2023.

Final documentation deadline for all outstanding documentation , including final high school grades for graduating high school students , post – secondary transcripts, English Proficiency, etc. is July, 2023.  August, 2023 is a Final documentation deadline for Fall University 1 applicants

 

Again, In Winter 2024, Candidates Final documentation deadline fo r all outstanding documentation, including final high school grades, post – secondary transcripts, English Proficiency, etc. (except University 1) is October 2023.  December 2023 is the final documentation deadline for all outstanding documentation (including final high school grades, post – secondary transcripts, English Proficiency, etc.) for University 1 applicants.

 

In the nut shell, Summer 2024 Applicants final documentation deadline for all outstanding documentation, including final high school grades, post – secondary transcripts, English Proficiency, etc. (except University 1) is March 2024.  In May 2024 Students Final documentation deadline for all outstanding documentation (including final high school grades, post – secondary transcripts, English Proficiency, etc.) for University 1 applicants.
