- Recent salary slips, not older than three months, for the parents or guardian. If they receive a pension or SASSA grant, a pension slip or SASSA letter must be included. If the parents or guardians are unemployed, an affidavit is required.
- Proof of residential address. In line with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 83 of 2001, NSFAS must collect FICA documents during first contact, so a certified proof of address is required.
- Travel and accommodation documents, if relevant, such as copies of signed rental agreements.
- If a parent is unemployed, the affidavit must be submitted by the parent and not the student.
