How to Apply;

We recognize COVID-19’s unique circumstances and remain committed to delivering a flexible and deliberate procedure.

For first-year students starting in Fall 2022, Auburn University has extended the test-flexible option.

The majority of your freshman admissions decisions are based on your high school courses, grades, and academic rigor.

While standardized test scores are encouraged, they are not needed for consideration for admission or scholarships.

Without a test score, you can apply.

Students who were allowed to take a standardized test in the past can still use their scores in the admissions process.

Applicants with a minimum GPA of 3.6 who are unable to take the test will be evaluated holistically through our test-optional approach.

Admission is also available to any valedictorian or salutatorian from an accredited Alabama high school with 50 or more graduates.

Academic Excellence

The major criterion for assessing academic readiness will be your high school transcript.

By the end of their senior year of high school, each freshman applicant must have completed the following core academic requirements:

  • English for four years
  • Social studies for three years
  • Three years of math, which includes Algebra I and II, as well as Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Analysis.
  • Two years of science with a laboratory component, encompassing biology and physics.

In addition to evaluating core classes, Auburn will consider high school grade point average (GPA), ACT and/or SAT scores, and high school rigor.

Transcript evaluation utilizes a 4.0 scale. (A = 4 points, B = 3 points, C = 2 points, D= 1 point, F = 0 points).

Holistic Review Factors

We choose our freshman class based on an assessment that involves a comprehensive examination of your academic performance.

The following are some of the things we looked at in our review:

  • Your weighted and unweighted grade point average from 9th to 11th grade.
  • The grades you received in core curriculum classes.
  • The classes you intend to take in 12th grade.
  • Your academic performance over time.
  • Academic performance has improved noticeably, as evidenced by an increase in GPA and the quality of courses finished or in progress.
  • The number of college preparatory, Advanced, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), honors, gifted, and transferable college courses you’ve taken, as well as your grades in those classes.
  • Your academic performance relative to other applicants at your high school and the learning opportunities available in your high school.
  • Outstanding performance in one or more specific subject areas.
