How Long Will It Take To Complete An Associate In Science 2024

  • 4 semesters. This degree is for those who wish to complete a Bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university after graduation from Snead. STARS guides or articulation agreements prepare students for transferring and in choosing the right courses at Snead State. The typical Associate in Science degree program is 60-64 credit hours.

How Long Will It Take To Complete An Associate in Applied Science 2024

  • 4 semesters. The coursework in each of these programs is mostly program-specific, so the courses available may not transfer into other two or four-year programs. Associate in Applied Science programs can be from 60-76 credit hours in length.

How Long Will It Take To Complete A Certificates Programs 2025

  • 1 year. Students can earn a credential on their way to completing a degree. Certificate programs provide students with a specialized set of skills for employment or professional advancement. Certificates are not designed for transfer to a senior institution.

Snead State Community College Application Requirements For Admission 2024-2025

To apply for admission at SSCC, prospective students must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Application Fee: Pay a non-refundable $30 application fee.
  • High School Transcript: Provide an official high school transcript or GED certificate.

  • Standardized Test Scores: Submit ACT or SAT scores, if available. While not required for admission, these scores are used for placement purposes.
  • Placement Test: If you have not taken the ACT or SAT, you may be required to take the ACCUPLACER placement test.

Submit Online Application

  • Complete and submit the Online Application for Admission.

Provide Proof of ID

According to ACCS Policy 801.01, all applicants to an Alabama community college must provide one primary form of identification. You may present this ID electronically, in person, or send a legible copy via email by emailing it to Admissions@snead.edu.

Examples of a primary ID include:

  • Driver’s license
  • State-issued identification card
  • U.S. passport

Take the Accuplacer Assessment or Submit Appropriate Test Scores

  • The Accuplacer Assessment is a placement test that can be taken in place of appropriate placement scores for necessary placement into the Math or English course. Accuplacer is offered in the Academic Success Center on the Boaz campus Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • ACT, SAT and High School Transcripts can be evaluated for Math and English placement. Please email studentservices@snead.edu to find out what type of placement is appropriate for you.
  • Students interested in taking the Accuplacer online through Examity must have a computer that meets Examity/Accuplacer requirements for software, audio, and video. There is also a $25 fee for the online proctoring service.
  • Students who would like to take the Accuplacer assessment in person may do so at the Testing Center located inside the Academic Success Center at the Boaz campus. Testing is available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 12 pm. Students must bring a photo ID and adhere to any COVID-19 procedures that may be in place (i.e. wearing a mask, etc.).\
  • Official documentation of successful completion of previous college-level courses may exempt a student from needing placement.

Provide Official Transcript

  • All First Time Freshman applicants must ensure that the Office of Admissions at Snead State receives an official transcript documenting high school / GED graduation.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to request this from his/her high school or GED office.
  • Students who earned a GED will need to click here and request that an official GED transcript be sent directly to Snead State Community College.
