Lawson State Community College Application For Admission 2023-2024
Qualified applicants are all invited by the Lawson State Community College to apply for admission into the 2023-2024 academic year to gain admission to study a course of their choice. The college is acceptinvg applications for both Fall, spring and summer semesters. Application dates open may differ depending on the semester in which an applicant is applying. Applications that will be submitted after the application deadline may be rejected or the applicant will have to pay a late submission fee.
During the application process to Lawson State College 2023-2024, applicants are to upload all the required documents to the admission board of the college. Documents that will be submitted must be certified to authenticate the application. You can upload and attach a copy of your ID directly to your admissions application after successful completion. Applicants can also email a copy of their ID to admissions@lawsonstate.edu
Once your ID information and application for admission information have been received by our office, you will receive an acceptance letter and additional admissions correspondence by email, and you can access a copy of your acceptance/decision letter in your application portal. International student applicants and Transient student applicants will be admitted as Pending until all required admissions documents are received.
Students who have not submitted all required documentation will be admitted as conditional status. Failure to provide documentation by the end of the first semester will prevent a student from future registration and official transcript release.

Lawson State Community College Transient Students Application Process
Step 1:
- Request an official letter of good standing or transient student form from the degree-granting/home institution. This letter must list the term the applicant wishes to enrol at Lawson State Community College. A new transient letter/form must be presented for each subsequent term that you plan to enrol in classes. Contact the Office of Admissions in advance with questions at admissions@lawsonstate.edu
Step 2:
- Make sure your transient letter (letter of good standing) is mailed to one of the Admissions Office locations or you may email it to the email account noted in step 1. (admissions@lawsonstate.edu)
Lawson State Community College International Students Application Process 2023.
Lawson State Community College expressly encourages multiculturalism through a geographically diverse student body. Its Bessemer Campus is not authorized to admit international students so all international student applicants must attend the Birmingham Campus. Please submit your application for admission and the following supporting potential enrollment documentation to the Birmingham Campus of Lawson State Community College:
- Completion of a Lawson State Community College Application for Admission.
- A VISA recognized and accepted by the United States Government and/or a current/valid passport or other official documentation to verify lawful presence. (NOTE: F-1 visa holders must be enrolled at full-time status – 12 semester hours or more and should make satisfactory progress in a degree program.)
- A certified original translated and evaluated copy of the student’s high school transcript. Documents must be reviewed by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. www.ece.org, World Education Services, Inc. www.wes.org or by a member agency of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org in the United States, at the expense of the applicant. An official report should be forwarded directly to the Admissions Office at Lawson State Community College.
- A current photo (passport sized, preferred).
- A minimum score of 5.5 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) as determined by the college, or a total score of 61 on the Internet-based TOEFEL, a total of 173 on the computer-based TOEFL, or a total score of 500 on the paper-based TOEFL.
- A signed, notarized statement verifying adequate financial support. (Recent bank statements indicating sufficient funds to cover financial obligations must be included.) Please note that the College offers no financial assistance or scholarships for international students.
- Documentation demonstrating adequate health and life insurance, inclusive of a repatriation benefit. This must be maintained during all periods of enrollment.
- Payment of I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Fee.
- English as a Second Language exam may be waived for students from all English-speaking countries including but not limited to: Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada (verify from transcript), England, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Scotland, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Belize, Dominica, Malawi, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Nigeria, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tobago and Trinidad, Zambia, and Virgin Islands. All other waivers must be submitted to the Chancellor of the Alabama College System for approval with substantial documentation.
