There are various private and government companies, agencies and organisations you can apply to for financial support, but the main source of support for TVET colleges in South Africa is the National Department of Education bursary fund administered by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). From the 2nd of November 2022, students enrolled for Buffalo City Tvet college for the academic year 2023 can apply for Nsfas.
Before registering as a student, you will have to establish whether or not you will have the funds to finance your studies. In addition to the actual course/module fees, please keep in mind that you have to make provision for books, equipment if applicable to your programme, transport, accommodation and general living expenses.

Students who have successfully registered to Buffalo City Tvet College but are in need of financial support can apply for Nsfas funds from the 2nd of November 2022. Nsfas Aplication deadline for the 2023 academic year is on the 7th of February 2023.
Buffalo City College Nsfas Application Qualification Criteria 2023-2024
- Only South African citizens are eligible for this bursary scheme;
- A student must be registered or intending to register on a PLP, NC(V) or Report 191 programme;
- Must be in need of financial assistance
- Returning students must demonstrate proven and accepted academic performance in line with the progression prescriptions of the Bursary Rules and Guidelines
- Must not be enrolling for a qualification that duplicates previous learning that was state-funded; and
- Applicants will qualify if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R350,000 of combined gross family income per annum and are admitted/received a firm offer for enrolment in a College.

- Proof of parent’s income (If parent/s employed)
- Death Certificate/s (If parent/s deceased)
- Doctor’s Certificate (If permanently disabled)
