Admissions for the 2023 academic year at Alabama State University are currently open to all prospective students. Applicants who have graduated from high schools, returning students and even those transferring from different institutions are all warmly welcome to submit their applications to the university to gain entry for admission.

Alabama State University (ASU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor’s, master’s, education specialist and doctorate degrees. From its traditional teacher education program to its new, high-demand health sciences programs, new PhD in microbiology, and minor in international business, they offer approximately 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Alabama State University Application Deadline For Admission 2023-2024

Your application, deposit, transcript, and ACT/SAT scores must be received by the Office of Admissions & Recruitment no later than May 10 for Summer Semester and July 30 for Fall Semester.

Alabama State University Application Requirements For Admission 2023-2024

The prerequisites and dates for applying to Alabama State University are listed below for high school seniors. Check out the admissions sections for GED Applicants, Transfer Students, and International Students if you aren’t a high school senior:

BEGINNING FRESHMEN ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Applicants with a diploma from any high school and who meet the qualifications in the sliding scale below (or a GED certificate) and who demonstrate that they can benefit from and contribute to the University’s educational program and goals will be completely admitted.

Applicants who do not meet the University’s standard admission requirements may be admitted to Tier II or Tier III (Summer Bridge) if they fall into one of the following categories.

Students who do not match the requirements for normal, Tier II, or Tier III admission will be turned down.

Note: Students who have been denied admission may petition the Admissions Committee for reconsideration based on unusual circumstances or considerations that may be considered mitigating in the review process.

Appeals should be sent to the Admissions and Recruitment Office.

• Under the authority of the president of the university, the head of admissions has limited freedom to change admissions rules based on current market trends.
• Applicants who are seniors in high school are accepted with the assumption that they would complete all of the prerequisites for university admission during their senior year.
• These applicants must submit a final high school transcript that reflects the completion of high school with a standard, honours, or advanced diploma from their high school.

1. Indicate your desired major on the application.
2. Send all of the following to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment:
   • $30 application fee
   • Copy of your official high school transcript
   • ACT/SAT test scores

 

Special Admission

You can apply for admission as a special student if you want to take classes at ASU but don’t want to pursue a degree.

To do so, you’ll need to:

• Fill out the online admissions application (Online).
• Send the following documents to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment:
• The application fee is $30.
• Undergraduate Special Student Classification Form (Completed)
