All You Need To Know: Heritage Christian University Application for Admission
Heritage Christian University is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation to grant certificates and degrees at the Associate, Baccalaureate and Master’s levels. T.B. Larimore founded Mars Hill Academy on land inherited by his wife Esther Gresham Larimore in 1871, and Heritage Christian University was founded in 1872. Mars Hill Academy, which was founded along Cox Creek near Florence, Alabama, prepared preachers and other Christian leaders for service in the churches of Christ.
Hundreds of churches were birth out in Florence and nearby communities in North Alabama and southern Tennessee by students taught at Mars Hill. The Academy, which was originally housed in Larimore’s home, dissolved in 1887 so that Larimore could devote himself entirely to evangelism.
In 1971, the 12-room home was renovated, and in 1974, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. F.D. Srygley and J.C. McQuiddy, two well-known restoration preachers, were among those who received Larimore’s education at Mars Hill.
