Faulkner University is a private Christian university located in Montgomery, Alabama. It’s an affiliate of the Churches of Christ. Montgomery Bible School was founded in 1942 by Dr Rex Turner, Dr Leonard Johnson, and Joe Greer. The name of the school was changed to Alabama Christian College in 1953. (ACC). The college was relocated to its current location on Atlanta Highway in 1965.
The school’s satellite campuses in Mobile, Huntsville, and Birmingham first opened their doors in 1975. In 1985, the school was renamed Faulkner University in honor of longtime benefactor and board chairman James H. Faulkner.

Steps in the Traditional Program Admissions Process. To be considered for admission to Faulkner University, candidates must have the following information on file:

Students may apply on-line or request a paper application.
Fees
All applications must be accompanied by a $25 application fee (non-refundable).
Reference forms
Reference forms are included in the paper admissions packet, or you can download reference forms here. The reference forms should be completed by a non-family member and returned to the University by the evaluator. One reference should be completed by the high school guidance counsellor, and the other from a church leader if possible.
Transcripts
Applicants must request that official copies of their high school transcripts be sent directly to the Admissions Office. Transfer students must also have official transcripts sent by the registrar of each college/university previously attended.
ACT or SAT score
Applicants must submit official copies of their ACT or SAT scores. To reserve your space in the incoming class, a $200 tuition deposit is required. Deposits are not refundable after May.
Admissions Requirements for the Class of 2025
- Admission requirements for undergraduate students have been temporarily altered due to problems relating to COVID-19.
- For 2025, Faulkner will be test-optional, meaning that applicants can apply with or without ACT, SAT, or CLT scores.
- Qualified high school graduates are admitted to baccalaureate (four-year) programs on a regular basis.
- Applicants with a minimum 2.75 GPA OR 18 or higher ACT sub scores in English and math (SAT equivalents) can earn unrestricted admission in 2023.
- Conditional admission will be considered for those who do not meet either of these standards.
- A competent high school graduate is one who has earned a “C” average in at least 15 units (three in English; nine in academic subject areas such as mathematics, physics, social science, and foreign language; and three in other courses).
- The General Education Development Test may be used to admit applicants who have not completed high school (GED).
- Applicants who have completed the GED exam should contact Admissions for additional information.
Freshmen Applicants
- Students can apply for admission either online or by requesting a printed application.
- $25.00 Application Fee — A $25 application fee is required for all applicants (non-refundable).
- Official copies of applicants’ ACT or SAT scores must be submitted.
- Applicants must request an official copy of their high school transcripts be provided directly to the Admissions Office.
- A $200 tuition deposit is necessary to secure your spot in the incoming class.
- After May, deposits are non-refundable.
Transfer Applicants
- Transfer applicants (with at least 24 hours of transferable credit) must have the following on file in order to be admitted to Faulkner University:

- Transcripts – Applicants must request all official transcripts from each college/university previously attended from the registrar.

Step 1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or apply using the new myStudentAid app for iOS and Android.
Be sure to include Faulkner University’s school code, 001003, as one of your college choices in Step 6.
Take advantage of the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA website, if applicable.
Step 2. Complete the Entrance Counseling
Step 3. Complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement Form
Step 4. Complete the Subsidized/Unsubsidized Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Step 5. If you have been a resident of Alabama for the past 12 months, complete the Alabama State Grant Program Application.
Step 6. Complete the Federal Work-Study Application
Step 7. Complete the Student Loan Information Sheet
Step 8. Complete the Financial Aid Award Notification
