Stigma With Tvet Colleges

Stigma With Tvet Colleges: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges help in equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the workforce. However, despite their importance, TVET colleges often face a stigma that undermines their potential. In this article, we aim to shed light on the misconceptions surrounding TVET education and highlight its numerous benefits for individuals, industries, and society as a whole.

Stigma With Tvet Colleges

Using the comparative analytical methodology, the study revealed that there is: curriculum deficiency in TVET programmes; logistical challenges due to inadequate funding; poor linkage of TVET to industry; an unfair trend of inappropriate categorization of graduates on the field; and a continuous chain of leadership crisis.

Tvet colleges experience severe significant stigmas:

  • To begin with, unlike other technical institutes, Tvet colleges lack a suitable curriculum. As a result, kids could struggle to follow a flow.
  • The logistical difficulties one must endure as a result of inadequate finance for such colleges is another stigma attached to Tvet colleges.
  • Since graduates from Tvet colleges typically lack a genuine graduate degree compared to those from technical institutes, they are frequently not viewed favourably when compared to degree holders.
  • These students are frequently wrongly classified, too.
