Samford University in Alabama has open application for the 2025-2026 academic year.  The application is opened for high school graduates(freshmen) and transfer students to apply to gain entry into the university. The application date for the academic year 2025 opens in August, is it therefore advised that applicants apply before the application the closing date.

Delays in the admission process could adversely affect other processes important to eventual enrollment, including advising, registration and financial aid.  For application dates and deadlines, applicants are urged to apply before the deadlines provided below and also keep notice of the following important dates:

Samford University looks for students that have a strong academic record, a strong personal character, and serious educational goals. Successful Samford University freshman applicants are encouraged to submit the following information:

• Official Test Scores, Essay, High School Transcript(s), Academic Recommendation
• The university does not have specified minimum scores for admission or scholarships because Samford’s entrance and scholarship process is comprehensive.
• Its middle 50% ACT and SAT scores, on the other hand, are 23-29 on the ACT and 1150-1380 on the SAT.
• The deadline for our first scholarship is December 1st.

 

Samford University Application For Admission Requirements For Transfer Students 2025-2026

• Transfer students with a minimum cumulative 2.50-grade point average on all college-level course work who have attempted at least 24-semester credits or 36 quarter credits at institutions accredited by one of the regional accrediting organizations are normally considered for admission.

• Students with fewer than 24-semester credits must additionally provide an approved high school transcript as well as their ACT or SAT test scores.

 

Samford University Application Process for Admission 2025-2026

Successful freshman applicants to Samford University 2025 are encouraged to provide the following:

Application

Samford accepts the Common Application as well as an online application.

• There is a $40 application fee.
• The university has no preferences as to which program you use.
• All applicants are subjected to the same level of scrutiny.

Essay

• Your essay should be at least 250 words long (one to two pages preferred).
• Students who apply using the Common Application do not have to write a separate essay.

Transcripts from High School

• Transcripts from your high school should be sent directly from the institution.
• Transcripts will be accepted online through Common App, Docufide, E-script, and Score.
• In addition to their transcript, applicants are requested to provide a high school profile.

Academic Recommendation

• An academic letter of recommendation should come from a school counsellor or teacher from your high school.

Official Test Scores

• For admission, Samford now outperforms both the ACT and the SAT.
• However, we simply use the SAT to determine whether or not you are eligible for a scholarship.
• To have your ACT and/or SAT scores submitted directly to Samford, please contact the testing agency.

Important Note: In the fall of 2025, students will have the option of selecting a test-optional application.

 

This option is available on either the online application or the Common Application.

Regardless of your choice, you will have to submit an appeal if you wish to change your initial response to the test-optional question. No appeals will be granted once a student has received an admission decision for fall 2024. If a student has a test score on file but chooses to apply test-optional, test scores will not be used in the evaluation process for admission or scholarships. Samford University International Students Application Requirements for Admission 2025-2026

TOEFL/TOEFL iBT: Samford’s test code for TOEFL is R1302. Favourable admission will be offered to students with the following minimum scores

• iBT: 90
• Computer: 232
• Paper: 575
• IELTS: Favorable admission will be offered to students with a minimum score of 6.5.
• ACT/SAT scores (student may request a waiver)

 International Undergraduate Applicant (Transfer)

Completed International Undergraduate Application

• $40 application fee
• Official government documentation (passport, visa)
• Documentation for financial support (bank statement, minimum balance $42,120)

Transcripts

Students who intend to transfer 24 or more credit hours are not required to submit a high school transcript.

Students with less than 24 college-level credit hours are required to submit a high school transcript. Should any high school study be done abroad, a translated and notarized high school transcript is required.

Enrollment Samford university application requirements

Once students have been notified of admission to Samford, a $250 nonrefundable enrollment/housing deposit must be submitted before May 1 to the Office of Admission. This can be done by either calling their admission counsellor or logging into their Application Status Page.
