This policy grants admission to entering freshmen, transfer students, transient students, dual enrolled students, international students, ability-to-benefit, as well as any student seeking readmission.

George Corley Wallace State Community college offers advice on academics which is an integral part of the instructional development of students. The devices are therefore grouped into two main categories which to help students in the way to select courses and programs that suits their skill on which they find flexibility. Who Is Eligible To Be Admitted To George Corley Wallace State Community College 2023-2024

High School Graduates
• Applicants who have not previously attended any regionally accredited post-secondary institutions will be considered first-time college students or “native” students. As early as possible, prior to the semester in which they plan to enrol, applicants must complete and submit the appropriate online Admission Application for new students.

Non-High School Graduates
• Non-high school graduates or non-GED recipients seeking admission may only enrol in an eligible career pathway program.
• Non-high school graduates or non-GED recipients who are admitted to an Alabama Community College System institution must be able to benefit from instructional training as indicated by attainment of at least minimum scores on an approved academic assessment.

Readmission Students
•Individuals who previously attended Wallace Community College Selma and who seek to return after an absence of one semester or more(excluding the summer term) must submit an application for readmission, comply with current admissions requirements, and supply transcripts of all academic work taken since last attending WCCS.

George Corley Wallace State Community Application requirement and Application Procedure;

First-Time Students/Students Seeking Readmission:

Proof of identification should be emailed to newstudent@wallacestate.edu.

According to State Board Policy 801.01, an applicant must have one primary form of photo documentation on file for admission to an Alabama Community College, such as:

  • unexpired Alabama driver’s license or instruction permit,
  • unexpired Alabama identification card,
  • unexpired U.S passport,
  • unexpired Permanent Resident card
  • Resident Alien Card – Pre-1997
  • Unexpired driver’s license or instruction permit from another state or possession that
  • verifies lawful presence, dated 2000 and beyond
  • S. Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-151) prior to 1978
  • BIA or tribal identification card with photo
  • I-797 Form with expiration date along with photo identification
  • Voter Identification Card from a state that verifies lawful presence

 

 

Submit official high school transcripts or GED transcripts with passing scores.

Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended (if applicable).

Apply for financial aid: Visit the Financial Aid section of the website for complete information.

Placement testing may be required prior to registering for English or math.  Students may be exempt if high school GPA and coursework meets a specific requirement, meet with your advisor to determine if you meet this qualification.

First-time students are encouraged to meet with an advisor for initial registration. To schedule non-traditional/distance education advising services for online students who are out-of-state or cannot access traditional advising services, please call the Student Success Center at 256-352-8040 or click here.

Log onto your myWallaceState account. Visit www.wallacestate.edu, click on myWallaceState – then select the appropriate option.

Register for Classes: Take a look at the schedule for the semester you want to register. There you will find a listing of classes offered, registration schedule and other useful information. View your DegreeWorks education plan to determine classes that you have completed or need to take. You will register for classes on your myWallaceState account.

Pay tuition and fees either online from your myWallaceState account or at the Cashier’s Office located in the James C. Bailey Center.

Get your Lion Card and parking decal in the Enrollment Management Office located in the Bailey Center 1st floor. You will need your unexpired driver’s license and vehicle tag number in order to receive a parking decal.

Tuition and fees are subject to change All tuition and fees are due before the first day of class. Fees may be paid with cash or check in the cashier’s office. The cashier’s office does not accept debit/credit.  Debit/credit cards and e-check will need to be paid on MY WALLACE SELMA. There is a non-refundable $25.00 late fee for late registration. The fees displayed above are for residents of Alabama only. Please consult our College Catalog for fees pertaining to non-Alabama residents. Transient Students

  1. Apply for Admission Click on myWallaceState and then Apply Now.
  2. See Admissions Eligibility for Required Documentation.
  3. Submit your transient letter to the Admissions office with the approved courses listed and the appropriate signatures from your transfer institution. Once your form has been received by the Admissions office, you will be granted access to register for your approved courses using myWallaceState.
  4. Register for Classes: Take a look at the schedule for the semester you want to register. There you will find a listing of classes offered, registration schedule and other useful information. View your DegreeWorks education plan to determine classes that you have completed or need to take. You will register for classes on your myWallaceState account.

George Corley Wallace State Community Application for Admission 2022 Federal Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements

Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, and Federal Work-Study are examples of federal student aid programs.

  1. File a free application for Federal Student Aid.

 

  1. Demonstrate financial need.

 

  1. Have a high school diploma, a GED, or be able to demonstrate a demonstrated ability to benefit. Students without a high school diploma or a GED who seek for federal financial aid must demonstrate their ability to benefit, according to current federal standards. (For further information, see Admission Requirements.)

 

  1. Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program.

 

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

 

  1. Maintain acceptable academic progress. If a student has been enrolled in a program for less than two years and has been enrolled for more than 10 years, the following definition of satisfactory progress applies: By the end of the second academic year, the student must have a “C” average or be in academic standing that meets the College’s graduation criteria. The student must continue to make satisfactory progress throughout the remainder of the program.

 

  1. Not be in default on Federal Perkins Loan (or National Direct Student Loan), Federal Stafford Loan (or Guaranteed Student Loan), Federal PLUS Loan or Supplemental Loan for Students (FSLS).

 

  1. Not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), or State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG).

 

  1. Agree to use any Federal Student Aid received solely for educational purposes.

 

  1. Sign a statement of educational purpose/certification regarding refunds and default.

 

  1. Sign a statement of updated information, certifying that all items on the Student Aid Report are correct.

 

  1. Sign a statement of registration status if required to register with Selective Service.

 

Federal Financial Aid Application Procedures For Wallace State Community College 2023

Tuition, books, supplies, at-home upkeep, transportation, and other personal expenses are factored into annual student budgets to establish a student’s financial needs. In order to be considered for federal and non-federal funding, students must file the Application for Federal Student Aid with the United States Department of Education each year. After January 1, applicants should apply as soon as possible.

 

To complete an application for financial aid, the applicant should have the following records available for reference:

 

  1. The U.S. Income Tax Return filed after January 1 for the student, his/her parents (if he/she applies as a dependent student) and his/her spouse’s return (if he/she is married and his/her spouse filed a separate return).

 

  1. Records of benefits received from the Social Security Administration, Veterans’ Administration, and other agencies that might pay non-taxable benefits.

 

  1. Bank statements and mortgage information.

 

Approximately four to six weeks after applying, the student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). This SAR contains the information submitted on the application and statistical information regarding eligibility for Federal Student Aid.

 

To apply for federal assistance through the Federal Pell Grants, FSEOG, and Federal Work-Study, all applicants must follow the procedures listed below:

 

  1. Apply for Admissions and have high school transcripts or GED, and ALL college transcripts on file. If the student is not a high school graduate or GED recipient, the Ability to Benefit Test must be completed with a satisfactory score and be on file.

 

  1. Complete the Wallace State Community College Application for Financial Assistance, sign the award letter, and provide the Financial Aid Office with any documentation requested.

 

  1. Complete the Verification Form and attach copies of U.S. Income Tax Forms, Documentation of Non-Taxable Income, and/or any other income statements needed to verify the Student Aid Report.

 

Students’ Financial Aid Responsibilities

Students have the responsibility of knowing the requirements for applying for and receiving financial aid. The student must be familiar with the procedures relative to the guidelines affecting financial aid awards and disbursements. They must also be knowledgeable of the WSCC’s refund and repayment policies.

 

New Federal Regulations – Higher Education

Authorization Bill of 1998: A student who receives Title IV funds (Pell Grant, FSEOG, CWS) and withdraws from all classes before the 60 percent mark of the semester owes the federal government money. If the monies are not repaid quickly, the student will face an overpayment issue, making him or her ineligible for future Title IV aid at WSCC or any other college.

 

In general, students who are pursuing their first baccalaureate degree may be eligible for grant assistance. Each year, students must submit an application to assess their eligibility. The Department of Education evaluates the information used to determine eligibility using a standard methodology established by the United States Congress. The Financial Aid Office and the internet both have applications. www.fafsa.ed.gov
