There are fifty(50) registered and accredited TVET Colleges under government in South Africa which operate on around 364 campuses spread across the rural and urban areas of the country. Public TVET Colleges are established and operated under the authority of the Continuing Education and Training Act 16 of 2006 and resort under the Department of Higher Education and Training.
TVET Colleges provide students with practical and other skills that prepare them for a variety of occupations. Colleges create close partnerships with essential players in industry and commerce to guarantee that their courses are responsive to labour market needs. TVET Colleges teach entrepreneurial skills that can be used in a range of businesses, including catering, construction, computer technology, tourism, and hairdressing.
Government-run Tvet colleges are educational institutions directly managed and funded by governmental agencies or departments responsible for education and skills development. These institutions, managed and funded by governmental bodies, focus on providing practical skills and knowledge necessary for various industries.

- Right from 1 April, the applications for Tvet Colleges are opening the application for the academic year and will be closing on 30 November for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Application Requirements For Tvet Colleges Under The Government
All qualified applicants wanting to study at the College must make sure they have the following available before attempting to apply:
- A certified copy of your ID
- Latest school results
- Proof of Residence
- Valid Email Address
Foreign students
- Certified copies of passport
- SAQA-approved foreign qualifications
- Proof of medical insurance or cover
- Valid study permit
How To Apply for Tvet Colleges Under the Government
Follow the below steps to apply for admission at Tvet Colleges under the government:
- All new applicants must complete the Placement Screening Test before applying. We will not process applications without doing a placement screening test first.
- You can apply online by visiting the College Online Application portal
- Applicants can also visit the school to book an online application session.
- Applicants can apply for NSFAS Funding or can search for other available bursaries.
- You can use either your smartphone, tablet, or computer to apply online via the student i-Enabler, using your PIN and student number to log on
- Applicants should apply for admission for the current level and the next level of your application
- Make sure you upload all the required documents and pay the necessary fees.
