Snead State Community College does not accept late applications below are the Application Deadline;

  • Applications for the upcoming academic year are in March
  • The summer semester is typically mid-April
  • The fall semester is typically in July
  • The spring semester is typically mid-November.

Snead State Community College Application for Admission Requirements 2023-2024

Items Needed to Complete an Application:

  • The Snead State Admissions Application
  • One of the most common forms of identification is (an unexpired government-issued photo ID)
  • Form for signatures and residency
  • Official high school or GED transcripts are required to prove graduation.
  • Official college transcript if you attended Snead State Community College as a dual enrollment student before graduating from high school

 

For admission to Alabama community institutions, all students must have an unexpired government-issued photo ID, according to Alabama Board of Education Policy 801.01. This ID can be shown electronically, in person, or by emailing a readable copy.

The following are examples of approved government-issued photo IDs:

  • A valid state-issued driver’s license that hasn’t expired
  • A state-issued identification card that hasn’t expired
  • A passport from the United States that hasn’t expired
  • An unexpired U.S. permanent resident card
  • An unexpired military ID card

Snead State Community College Application Process For Admission 2023-2024

Please follow these steps to apply if this is your first time attending college after graduating from high school or earning a GED. You are considered a first-time student if you were a dual enrollment student in high school and plan to continue taking classes after graduation.

  1. Submit Online Application

Complete and submit the Online Application for Admission.

  1. Provide Proof of ID

According to ACCS Policy 801.01, all applicants to an Alabama community college must provide one primary form of identification.  You may present this ID electronically, in person, or send a legible copy via email by emailing it to Admissions@snead.edu.

Examples of a primary ID include:

  • Driver’s license
  • State-issued identification card
  • U.S. passport

 

  1. Complete Residency Form

Students who completed an application for spring, summer, or fall 2022 prior to March 1, 2023, will be required to submit a signature residency form to complete their admissions application. Applicants have two options for completing and submitting the residency form. Applicants may complete it and submit the residency form electronically or you may print and sign the Signature/Residency Form.  The printed form may be delivered, mailed, or emailed to the Office of Admissions.

Please note: Applications submitted after March 1, 2023, include residency questions and do not require an additional residency form. Applicants will be notified of the documents they need via email.

 

  1. Take the Accuplacer Assessment or Submit Appropriate Test Scores

The Accuplacer Assessment is a placement test that can be taken in place of appropriate placement scores for necessary placement into a Math or English course.

Accuplacer is offered in the Academic Success Center on the Boaz campus Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

ACT, SAT and High School Transcripts can be evaluated for Math and English placement. Please email studentservices@snead.edu to find out what type of placement is appropriate for you.

Students interested in taking the Accuplacer online through Examity must have a computer that meets Examity/Accuplacer requirements for software, audio, and video. There is also a $25 fee for the online proctoring service.

Students who would like to take the Accuplacer assessment in person may do so at the Testing Center located inside the Academic Success Center at the Boaz campus.  Testing is available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 12 pm.  Students must bring a photo ID and adhere to any COVID-19 procedures that may be in place (i.e. wearing a mask, etc.).

Official documentation of successful completion of previous college-level courses may exempt a student from needing placement.

 

  1. Provide Official Transcript

All First Time Freshman applicants must ensure that the Office of Admissions at Snead State receives an official transcript documenting high school / GED graduation.

It is the student’s responsibility to request this from his/her high school or GED office.

Students who earned a GED will need to click here and request that an official GED transcript be sent directly to Snead State Community College.
