Montgomery, Alabama’s H. Council Trenholm State Community College is a historically black community college. In a number of healthcare and technological subjects, the college offers associate’s degrees and certificates. Trenholm State Technical College (established 1963) and John M. Patterson Technical School merged to form the current version of the college in 2001. (founded 1961).

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has accredited H. Councill Trenholm State Community College to grant Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degrees, as well as certifications in specialized occupational areas.

Applicants who are making their first application

• Apply for Trenholm State University online.
• Submit a completed Residency Form as well as a valid government-issued photo ID.
• Mail or email a government-issued photo ID that isn’t expired.
• Submit a copy of your official high school or GED transcript as proof of graduation.
• Official college transcripts from all previous colleges should be submitted.

 

Transient  Students

(A student who is presently pursuing a degree at another institution or university but would want to attend Trenholm State Community College for one semester)

• Apply online at Trenholm State Community College.
• Submit a completed Residency Form as well as a valid government-issued photo ID.
• Mail or email a government-issued photo ID that isn’t expired.
• Send a temporary letter outlining the exact approved courses for the term.
• Keep in mind that federal financial aid is not available to temporary students.

• IMPORTANT: Each semester that you plan to attend Trenholm State as a transitory student, you must submit an updated Transient Letter.

 

Dual Enrollment

• (Dual enrollment gives dual credit students college credit from both Trenholm State and their present high school.)

• Apply online for Trenholm State University.
• Submit a valid government-issued photo ID and a Residency Form.
• By mail or email, submit an unexpired government-issued photo ID.
• Fill out the Dual Enrollment Registration Form and return it to us.
• A copy of your most recent high school transcript is required.
• At least a 2.5 GPA on a scale of one to ten.
• Enrolled in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
• Students must submit appropriate ACT/SAT scores or complete placement testing.

International Students

Prospective international students must apply for admissions to Trenholm State prior to the issuance of Form I-20. The admissions process must be completed prior to enrolling in classes.

How to Apply For Council Trenholm State Community College Application for Admission 2023 Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office at Trenholm State Community College is committed to assisting students in achieving their educational and career objectives through a variety of financial aid programs. Financial aid is offered through federal, state, and institutional programs to assist students and their families in paying for college.

Grants, scholarships, VA educational support, and/or work-study may be available to students. Trenholm State University is not a part of any federal student loan program.

Each year, the FIRST STEP in applying for financial aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the only application required for Federal and/or State Aid at Trenholm State for the whole school year, which includes the fall and spring semesters as well as the summer Term.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID? The most fundamental eligibility criteria are as follows:

• Have a high school diploma or a GED certificate; Demonstrate financial need;
• Possess a current Social Security number;
• Be enrolled in an eligible program as a normal student;
• Be a citizen of the United States or an eligible noncitizen;
• Once in college, maintain excellent academic achievement;
• On refunds and defaults, sign a statement of educational purpose/certification statement.
• On the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you must sign statements stating that you are not in default on a federal student loan or owe money on a federal student grant.
• If you are a male between the ages of 18 and 25, you must register with Selective Service. If you haven’t already done so, you can do so when filling out the FAFSA.

 

Apply Early For STUDENT AID

Financial Aid – On October 1, you can submit your FAFSA for the new academic year for the first time. Fill out the FAFSA application online at www.fafsa.gov. Some types of aid have a finite budget. As a result, you must apply as soon as possible, by the priority dates listed below, in order to be considered for the maximum award available.

• The fall semester begins on June 1 and the spring semester begins on November 2.
• The first day of the summer term is March 1.
• Remember to use the Federal School Code 005734 for Trenholm State Community College on your FAFSA.
