  • The Associate in Arts Degree (A.A.) and Associate in Science Degree (A.S.) prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The A.A. and A.S. are comprised of courses offered by the Math and Science Division; the Language, Humanities, and Fine Arts Division; and the Business, IT, and Social Science Division. Students pursuing an A.A. or A.S. are encouraged to identify a major and transfer institution early in their college career and to consult the Statewide Transfer and Articulation Reporting System (STARS) Guide at http://stars.troy.edu prior to registering for classes.

Lurleen B Wallace Community College Application Requirements For 2023-2024

Applicants applying for the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College for the 2024 academic year are expected to submit the following documents to authenticate their applications:

  • Unexpired Alabama Driver’s License or instruction permit
  • Unexpired Alabama identification card
  • Unexpired U.S. Passport
  • Unexpired U.S. Permanent Resident Card
  • Resident Alien Card – Pre-1997
  • Unexpired Driver’s License or instruction permit from another state or possession that verifies lawful presence, dated 2000 and beyond
  • U.S. Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-151) prior to 1978
  • BIA or tribal identification card with photo
  • I-797 Form with an expiration date
  • A voter identification card from a state that verifies lawful presence
  • Completed LBWCC Application for Admission (available online)
  • Official high school transcript or GED scores
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful presence in the United States

  • LBWCC uses placement testing to determine if students meet the necessary requirements for college-level courses. If you haven’t taken the ACT or SAT, or if your scores do not meet the minimum requirements, you may need to take a placement test. Orientation and Registration:

LBWCC First-Time Freshman Application Process:

A first-time college student must have ONE of the following:

  • Official high school transcript documenting graduation date
  • Official GED transcript documenting the date passed

Transcripts documenting the above must be official and must be mailed directly to:

  • Lurleen B. Wallace Community College
  • Admissions Office
  • P. O. Box 1418
  • Andalusia, AL 36420

In addition, the following items are also required:

  • a completed LBWCC Application for Admission;
  • an acceptable form of identification; applicants claiming in-state status for tuition purposes must also submit documentation of Alabama residency (for example, an Alabama driver’s license) and email copy to admissions@lbwcc.edu;
  • all male students between the ages of 18 and 26 must have registered with the U.S. Selective Service System.

Note: Applicants with the above credentials are considered degree eligible.

 

Lurleen B Wallace Community College Admission 2023-2024 Transfer Student Application Process

An applicant who has previously attended another regionally accredited post-secondary institution(s) is considered a transfer student. Official transcripts from these institutions should be mailed directly to:

  • Admissions Office

  • Andalusia, AL 36420

In addition, the following items are also required:

  • a completed LBWCC Application for Admission
  • an acceptable form of identification and documentation of Alabama residency for those applicants claiming in-state status for tuition purposes (for example, an Alabama driver’s license)
  • Placement Assessment results or ACT scores of 18 or higher in English, 20 or higher in reading, and 20 or higher in mathematics. Transfer students who have completed degree-creditable, college-level English or mathematics courses with a grade of “C” or better will be exempt from the
  • placement assessment requirement. Transcripts are required to document these courses before a transfer student is exempted from the placement assessment.

LBWCC Transient Students Application Process

A transient student is a student who is currently attending another postsecondary institution but wishes to attend Lurleen B. Wallace Community College on a transient basis to take courses for the purpose of transferring those courses back to the parent institution. Transient students are not required to submit transcripts from the parent institution. Admission documents which are required of transient students are:

  • an official letter or transient form from the parent institution which certifies that the credit earned at LBWCC will be accepted as a part of the student’s academic program.
  • a completed LBWCC Application for Admission
  • an acceptable form of identification and documentation of Alabama residency for those applicants claiming in-state status for tuition purposes (for example, an Alabama driver’s license)

LBWCC International Students Application Process

Prior to being issued an I-20 form, an International Student must present to the Admissions Office the following:

  • Completion of admission application to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College
  • A certified original translated and evaluated copy of the student’s high school transcript (Translations must be completed by an organization affiliated with The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services; see www.naces.org for information.)
  • A current and valid passport or other official documentation to verify the lawful presence
  • A current photo (passport size, preferred)
  • A minimum score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), a total score of 61 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a total score of 500 on the paper-based TOEFL.*
  • A signed notarized statement verifying adequate financial support.
  • Payment of I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Fee.
  • A medical health history with proof of vaccinations
  • Documentation demonstrating adequate health and life insurance, including repatriation, must be maintained during all periods of enrollment.

 

Federal Financial Aid Eligibility

Requirements Federal Student Aid Programs available are Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), and Federal Work-Study (FWS).

  • File a free application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.gov, beginning October 1 of each year.
  • Demonstrate financial need. Have a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program. Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Not be in default on Federal Perkins Loan (or National Direct Student Loan), Federal Stafford Loan (or Guaranteed Student Loan), Federal PLUS Loan or Supplemental Loan for Students (FSLS).
  • Not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), or Alabama Student Assistant Grant (ASAP). Agree to use any Federal Student Aid received solely for educational purposes.
  • If you are a male between the ages of 18 and 25, you must register with the Selective Service.
